I am officially checked in and sitting at the Phoenix Airport waiting to board my first of two flights. My bike and backpack weighed less than I thought they would. I knew Air New Zealands rules about baggage and was hoping my luggage would remain within the limits so I wouldn't have to pay extra. Once I put my bike box on the scale and saw 59lbs. I gave a little cheer, then I added my backpack and cheered again. The check-in lady didn't know the 100lb rule, so I told her, then she went in the back to ask if I was right because she wanted to charge me money. She was lucky - because I was right and she didn't have to endure my tantrum I was ready to pull... ha ha, not really.
This morning Cody and I got to walk up to my old high school to hang with my friends who were running the Ragnar Relay. It's such a cool event and I got a lot of flack for not participating - they seemed to think I could do IM New Zealand AND Ragnar, but I thought differently. I am so glad I got to see everyone before I left, it was just what I needed to take my mind off of Ironman.
Chris told me "he doesn't reed too well," so I will be taking and adding more pictures to my blog. Here is only the beginning :-)

I hope you have an awesome trip!! And I have to say, I am so impressed that that was your only luggage for an IM that is half way across the world!!! I would have had a least 5 more bags... :) Safe travels! I'll be cheering for you!
